Progressive Gaming to post $20M bond to appeal verdict
Progressive Gaming International Corporation says it will post a $20 million bond to begin a federal appeal of a district court decision against the company. In U.S. District Court in Mississippi this past week, a judge denied Progressive's post-trial claims for relief from a $39 million verdict against the company.
A suit, filed in 2002, alleged that the company illegally restrained trade and attempted to monopolize the proprietary table game market in the United States, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
In addition to posting the bond, Progressive must grant a separate subordinated security interest in its assets for the remaining amount due.
Progressive is a manufacturer of casino management software and games. More>>

Keeping up with your car
Nicole Neimi, spokeswoman with AAA in Aurora, said they receive a lot of calls in the colder months for dead batteries.
"You need to make sure your battery is in working order," she said.
Temperature fluctuation can also affect the amount of air in your tires, so people need to check them when the weather changes, Neimi said. She also recommended making sure that you rotate your tires at the frequency that your owner's manual recommends.
Neimi and Johnson both recommended keeping up with regular preventative maintenance in accordance with the vehicle's owner's manual. It is also important to have the oil changed every 3,000 miles, they said.
Johnson also recommended good windshield wiper blades, making sure that all the fluids are filled, and the lights are working. More>>
